Tom Ford

This season of London Fashion Week was literally hit by the shiny Spring/Summer 14 collection by the fearless Tom Ford. Despite the traditional mystery surrounding all his fashion shows, this time critics literally exploded with great words about every outfit. To describe the collection in one word, one would pick “physique”.
As a matter of fact, Ford’s main inspiration this time was drawn from the form of the toned feminine body during warm seasons. Since it is quite common for women to keep fit during summer, play sports and get tan, the main goal of the American designer was to celebrate and embrace trained bodies through tight and short dresses where simplicity of cuts was well balanced by extreme complexity of details.
Dresses were so tight that they became second skins, and high necklines, wide rounded shoulders and waist-cinching suits seemed to have been stolen from 80s wardrobes. The first part of the show was dominated by animal skins and leather, and couplings of elaborated mini skirts and transparent shirts, followed by elegant jackets married to high waisted tuxedo pants, but the greatest surprise came out at the end, when enchanting mosaic mirrored dresses appeared, rigorously worn with sensual lace up heels and high boots decorated with jewels. A kind of outfit that someone like Beyonce or J.Lo will find perfect for their shows.
Extreme sensuality and exaltation of silhouette definitely ruled the game in this collection, where not that much space was left to romantic moods, and self-confidence was a must.
