Peter Pilotto

Peter Pilotto - Cover
Strong, structured, feminine dresses are Peter Pilotto’s proposal for Spring Summer 2014. An idea of strength and femininity that was perfectly set as voluminous shapes were softnened by origami-like designs, skin and an explosively vivid color palette. Between texture and three dimensionalizing of print, Cara Delevigne rocked the runway in refreshing cool shades of turquoise, mint green and aqua, opening the show for the ultimate fantasy of graphic lines in rose like forms and intricate embroidements.

The designers’ aesthetic was literally printed in every layer, in every piece and in every textured element of femininity. Graphic prints in a kaleidoscope of colors and a smart and playful juxtaposition of diferent fabrics created texture, through the use of contrasting fabrics as orchid lace and cotton, satin and tweed and twill and crepe. Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos’ homage to color, technical virtuosity and everything beautiful relied on the distinction of two contrasting silhouettes. The stiff hourglass shape was emphasized by architectural A line skirts and were paired with kimono sleeve crisp shirts and oversized cropped tops. Playing with the female form, these sculptured silhouettes shined through an asymmetric crinoline skirt and featured a dramatic flounce and pretty pleats in electrifying colors. A non body conscious take, yet sexy in all its femininity. Contrastanting, a fluid and sensual, very wearable silhouette was seen on sinewy slip dresses. Uncomplicated and light dresses were showstoppers in their own dashing intricancy and exploding hues of hot pink, red, orange, yellow and green in vivid prints.

Cocktail princesses or cosmopolitan nymphs. Cute girls with a hidden dark edge in cute dresses. Cute, stiffly voluminous dresses. All fresh and only for the bold.
