Mary Katrantzou

Exasperated mixtures of prints have been a leading trend in the recent seasons, and Mary Katrantzou is one of the undisputed leaders in this segment of fashion. Her latest collection, shown at London Fashion Week, was an elaborated celebration of prints and compositions of outfits, which made an innovative usage of the technical features of sportswear.
Despite this common trait of the whole collection, no one would ever say that outfits are easily wearable.
Actually every garment is an extremely tangled structure, a contraposition of textiles of different colours, an explosion of shapes, which quite often are not specifically conceived to exalt a perfect body (just think about the trapezoidal dresses). In two words, a luxury triumph. Outfits conceived for the day are a bit sportier, a look that is given by the tech fibers used, while garments meant to be worn at night definitely reach the apex of opulence, through infinite series of floral applications, smart couplings of different prints and, last but not least, the massive usage of jewels which attribute a further romantic mood to either hyper-extravagant garments.
The common trait of all the outfits is with no doubt the usage of maximal prints, exaggerated and psychedelic fantasies that are hard not to look at. Furthermore, a relevant role is played by shoes also, which this time are decorated with prints as the rest of the outfit is.
This collection is just another confirmation of the visionary, fantastic world of Mary Katrantzou. No doubt that a flamboyant fashion authority like Anna Dello Russo will pick up some pieces for the next summer.
