David Koma
Two years ago I had the possibility to visit Mercedes Benz Kiev Fashion Days and to discover the creations of a talented London based Georgian designer named David Koma.
Since then, while his crowd of fans has grown bigger, including names as Naomi Campbell, Rihanna and Beyoncè, the image of Koma’s woman has become reiterated and amplified season after season, till becoming explicit and a clear manifesto for his Spring Summer 2014 collection.
David Koma is strength, ability in sport and will to fight, decision and clearness. So, it doesn’t surprise that the inspiration for this collection came from the ancient Japanese martial art of kyudo, declined on the tones of total black, white, pale pink and blue. Short silk dresses, the usual Koma beautifully pleated skirt, kyudo uniform-inspired leather jackets and also a surprising touch of prints: a warrior soul that from the old far East gives life and energy to our modern Kylie(s).
