Bottega Veneta

Bottega Veneta - Cover

With an effortless elegant collection Bottega Veneta enchanted us once again during this season's Milan fashion week

One of the most outstanding features of Tomas Maier’s SS2014 collection were the ruffled details incorporated in many pieces adding an incredible sense of sophistication.  There was extreme variation when it came to silhouettes; ranging from long and lean to voluminous and diagonal cuts. Though following a very distinct style, the robes within the collection greatly differ from one another. A variety of wide sleeved blouses combined with layered and draped skirts were shown along with stunning, elaborately cut cocktail dresses.

A special note in this season’s collection added the fabric created by Bottega Veneta, woven to equal parts of cotton and copper thread, resulting in this very particular look. Creative director Tomas Maier’s approach to let the fabric take the lead, serving as a guide was one definitely worth following. The outcome is timeless and elegant yet really unique, putting the material in the centre. This technique worked especially well in the cocktail dresses featuring a pattern of fabric at the bottom part of the dress.

The colour palette for the collection, untypical for the spring season, was held in pale neutrals as well as a range of dark shades.  The lighter hues included beige, sand as well as crisp white. Talking about the darker shades, there was everything ranging from espresso to army green, navy and black.

All in all very elegant and very sophisticated, outstanding due to refined cutting techniques and unique fabric.
