Sarah Ryan

Sarah Ryan is a young and unquestionably talented designer. Having graduated with a BA in Womanswear in 2013 from Limerick School of Art and Design, Ireland, supported the complexity of her vision, the intricacy of her artistic mind and the flair that runs through her fingers. Recently - and with obvious pertinence - the Cork/London based designer was the finalist in the prestigious Persil Design Awards and has been named winner of the Triumph Inspiration Award, in 2011. 

The aesthetics of her pieces derives form the designer’s fascination for an unique bond between the extraordinary, the unimaginable and the functional, endowing each and every garment with an avant garde practicality. Unpropitious textiles and materials create intriguing, tantalizing and ageless silhouettes, dressing a striking woman, who has a passion for risk and a predilection for unique, high quality, singular pieces. Sarah Ryan’s collections are produced in Ireland and have been shown at Berlin Fashion Week and Graduate Fashion Week London. Even renowned photographers like Ellen Van Unwerth, Alex Hutchison and Patrick McHugh have featured the young label in various editorial shots.

Corpus Fraterna. A collection based on the notion of building the newly formed body from the inside out. Fusion, the fusion of muscle to bone, portrayed by the pleasantly unfavorable textiles, is the secret for the creation of the enlightened and unseen silhouettes. Here, contour and lines are explored and inseparably developed together, with a particular focus on inter connectivity, creating an obvious relativity from one piece to another. Achromatic black gives sobriety and depth to these statement pieces, whilst tailored trousers and high neck tops of insidious simple lines are adorned with heavy cordlike garments, debuting a serene modern warrior. Dark, edgy and unique, strikingly enthralling - one cannot remain secretly indifferent to each knot, each angle and each detail.
