UNIVRS by Stefano Lo Muzio

UNIVRS by Stefano Lo Muzio - Cover

Just a couple of weeks ago, somebody commented on a Facebook picture of a young man beautifully dressed in a total black look, staring peevishly at the sun: what is the sense (or meaning) of wearing a skirt on a pair of trousers? The answer came straight away from Stefano Lo Muzio no less, who was wearing his eponymous label in the indicted picture: ‘the sense lays in aesthetic, meaning deals with culture and semiotic, while the choice has a communicative value, and on this I refer to Ferdinand De Sassure’s structuralism’.

Is there anything else somebody wants to add?

Stefano Lo Muzio is an Italian talent with clear ideas and even clearer lines – both written and drawn. Those in the know can recognize him wearing his own creations at social events or in the blogs of the fashion street photographers: unphatomable gaze and an impenetrable black beard. His latest collection, UNIVRS Fall Winter 2013/2014 , is almost totally black, with few appearances of white in vertical stripes and in popeline shirts. The inspiration comes from the world of the polyhedric artist Carsten Nicolai, also known as Alva Noto and yes, the black wool gabardine skirt is worn on black wool jersey leggings – sorry. Nothing stressed or exaggerated, repeated shapes and lines are interrupted only by modulations made of sartorial details: no more than whispers in the intimate dialogue between Stefano and his customers.
