Ivory by Mila Ignatik - Cover

No matter how sophisticated is the industrial production of design accessories. Hand-made compositions make the difference if done the right way and, above all, with the right dose of passion. Creations by Belarusian Mila Ignatik are simply the greatest proof of this reality.

Drawing, sewing, knitting, beading have always been and integral part of life for this young talent from Minsk. And looking at her creations, it is easy to tell so: floral headbands are the leading accessories that she produces, and the trendiest object for fashion addicts in Minsk (and not only). Still, her production encompasses various product categories, among which earrings and necklaces are probably the most noticeable ones.

Looking at her main creations, it is impossible not to stop and stare the incredible level of realism and detail of flowers and natural complements, and the constant search for further extravagance of items, through increasing dimensions of flowers, or more and more complexity of overlapping shapes.

Everything is done by hand, using a Japanese technique of clay modelling that Ignatik has learned in Russia, attending classes by a local famous modeller, Olga Petrova. This technique, patented by the Japanese company DECO, is pretty unique, countering only three thousands people worldwide able to use it: the way flowers and sculptural miniatures are made requires a specific clay called Claycraft, which allows the designers to model sculptural creations the way they like before leaving it to dry for one day.

These accessories are not only a unique way of complementing outfits: they are a pure expression of passion for modelling. The extreme level of complexity contributes to increasing the level of hyper-realism: looking at a floral headband, the only difference with real flowers is that these latter… will eventually wilt.

This brilliant designer has been operating for four years, opening up her own studio last year: tailor-made is her way, and the careful attention for customers’ needs is a constant priority, and the main source of success. Battle plan for this year: complementing a local fashion designer’s collection with her amazing creations.

Still, her dream is to expand her production to reach clients globally, focusing on both every-day accessories and premium items. And if determination eventually pays off, do not be surprised if, sooner or later, you notice her name in a big fashion magazine.
